If you open the front panel on this machine, you will see what has made it so popular for many years with owners. This printer was made when parts were made of metal instead of fragile plastic. Those older parts may make the printer weigh more than some of its newer counterparts, but they also mean that this machine is going to continue to work when some of those older ones have been scrapped. This is a machine that is worth the cost of refurbishing.

There are some of the newer printer features you will not find in this printer. It does not have any of the fancy paper handling capabilities of newer machines. For duplex printing, you will need to feed sheets back through by hand. There is no wireless capability for the machine. Even so, the HP LaserJet 4100n printer remains a strong and reliable printer with many years of service. It will keep making prints long after some of the newer machines have been forgotten.

Putting the HP LaserJet 1320n printer to the test will confirm most of the positive feelings many people have when they are considering a printer and they run across a particularly strong Hewlett-Packard model such as the 1320n. Much of this is due to the printer’s onboard memory, which comes in at 16 MB (that can be increased with optional memory upgrades). In most instances — especially when the printer is used in a small business or small network — there will be no need for memory upgrade because the print task or series of assignments from a network will probably not come close to taking up 16 MB of available memory.

Monthly maintenance cycle for the HP 1320n is a relatively low 10,000 pages per month, though it’s a good bet that most any small business or workgroup will not come close to approaching that upper end anytime soon. The 1320n can be connected through several different meanings, including a USB 2.0 and a parallel port as well as a number of different optional conductivity functions.

This particular HP printer seems to have been designed to work mostly with a Windows-based OS. It is also Vista ready as well. It comes supplied with a one-year on-site warranty that can be extended after payment of additional fees and the box comes complete with the printer, cartridges and a software CD-ROM with installation/un-installation, drivers and other materials.

In all, after taking some time with the HP LaserJet 1320n printer, it’s easy to see why this particular model has become popular among the small business set. A good refurbished model can be found for somewhere around $250; expect to pay twice that for a new one, though. Given that it’s a very capable Hewlett-Packard, that seems to be a reasonable price to pay.
